Locally Owned and supportive of community, Namaste Yoga Studio’s mission is to provide yoga and fitness classes in conjunction with massage therapy programs for pain management of the chronic pain sufferer.

Utilizing the methods of practice in the Ashtanga Yoga Method with integration of the latest information regarding the neurological effects of yoga and touch therapeutics on pain and injury. Understanding that pain is usually the primary complaint, pain relief becomes our primary concern. Our staff of teachers have been specially trained in:

If your doctor has recommended you exercise or try yoga our staff is prepared to assist you with your needs. Talk with Gayla Coughlin if you have questions about your particular ability to enter a yoga practice.

To access our online system for booking click on the Schedule Tab and you will be taken to our scheduling site. From there click on the class name and a description window will appear. Click on Appointments to schedule your massage, if unavailable please call our offices we may be able to get you in. Same day appointments are usually unavailable but it never hurts to ask.



What does “Namaste” Mean? Pronounced nʌməs-te or nama-stay

Most often translated as “I honor the spirit in you that also resides in me,” Namaste is a common spoken valediction  or salutation originating from the South Asian Hindus and Buddhists. It is a customary greeting when individuals meet, and a valediction upon their parting. A non-contact form of salutation is traditionally preferred in India and Nepall; Namaste is the most common form of such a salutation.

When spoken to another person, it is commonly accompanied by a slight bow made with hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointed upwards, in front of the chest.

      Alicia, you can start tonight! Mondays are at 10am, 7:30pm, Wednesday 10am and 730pm, Thursday at 7pm, Friday at 6pm and Saturday morning at 8am!

      No advance sign in, though Monday evenings are getting full! Zumba is $5 each class, Buy 5 for $20, and be sure to get your punch card to earn more free classes.

    I want to try Zumba for the first time and am not sure what to expect or what shoes to wear. What is the warmup/cool-down? Can you please point me to some info or fill me in on Zumba-etiquette? Thank you!!

      Etiquette is have fun, be comfortable, most people wear an aerobic shoe or something with a little slide, depending on your preferences. Try on some shoes on a tile floor and skate around a bit…that will help you decide. Too much catch on the floor can twist your knees too much, to little and we land on our behinds. Always warm up and cool down tracks!

      Allyson, give us a call at 683-1872 if we are out of office =) Piloxing is a combo of Pilates and Boxing, a cardio-toning workout set to fun music. An easy paced program using optional weighted gloves to increase arm muscle tone. Bring water, towel, mat for floor work and a smile! Drop In for $12/class, our next one is Saturday at 9:30am. Monthly Piloxing only pass is $40 for Unlimited 30 days. Hope to see you soon! Gayla

      Kundalini is on Tuesdays at 5:30. Kundalini is a different approach to yoga focusing on chakras, energy, breathwork and non challenging poses. Please call for more information. Namaste

    I have been going to Zumba at Namaste for about 6 weeks now and I am down 17 pounds and 3 inches in the waist! I love going there! They make you feel comfortable, the other students are great and each instructor is unique and have a genuine interest in their students. I can’t wait to go to class each time I go. The instructors are easy to follow and are super energetic. I have never been one who felt comfortable leaving the house to exercise around strangers judging me or to go to a big conglomerate gym where you are a number, but going to Namaste is completely different. Try it, you will love it!!!

  12. Hi Gayla! Thank you for the example about Hot Yoga. That happened to me! Not stroke, but within hours of coming home from my first Bikram Yoga class, I was nauseas, dizzy, had a migraine and was eventually throwing up for 24 hours after the class. I have NEVER been back. They told me “You didn’t drink enough water” even though I drank plenty of water or “You wore clothing that didn’t breathe” (I had on my regular tank top with long yoga pants). It made me so sick…that I have NEVER been back to a hot yoga class.

      Thank you for sharing that Jen…it’s what they are trained to say and this happens to many many people out there. Drinking MORE water at that point may be detrimental and make the symptoms worse (like giving a starving person a huge plate of pasta) sending the system into shock.

  13. In follow up to my comment above…I forgot to mention it was OVER 90 degrees, they didn’t let anyone leave or stop the exercising the entire hour. I actually have done a “warm yoga class” since then with milder temps … and it was wonderful.

      Exactly =) Forcing people to stay in a heated room is unethical. We are adults, we don’t have to ask permission to use the bathroom and we don’t have to do what we don’t wanna!

    Hello! I came to the Ashtanga LED yesterday and my muscles are really feeling it!!! Should I take a break until my muscles aren’t sore anymore or continue through the soreness? It’s only my second yoga class ever so I’m not sure what’s the norm.

    What items are required for your beginners yoga class? -and-
    What clothing is considered optimal for movement, etc.?

      You should bring a mat, towel and/or hand towel, water and your questions.

      clothing is a personal choice. Loose or short T shirts can be distracting as we tug and pull on them or they flop open when we are upside down. Form Fitting leggings or tights under shorts, whatever your preference =) Be comfortable and able to move.

    I came there and received a massage awhile back and it really helped. I have had a lot of horrible things happen and I suffer from Fibromyalgia so stress intensifies the pain. I am overweight and have developed type 2 diabetes. I really just have no idea where to begin to make a change.

    I have a torn miniscus in my right knee. Although not too bad at the current time, my orthopedist says not to twist the knee. Should this be a deterent to doing beginning yoga? I have not attended a class yet because I wanted to find out if it would be recommended.

    Hi Gayla,

    I was interested in signing up for the hot yoga class with a few friends. I stopped by the studio and it was closed. When would be a good time to swing by to possibly check out the studio? Also, has the monthly price of hot yoga changed? And is it month to month the same price? Sorry for the many questions haha im just ready to get my yoga on :)

      Hello! We are sometimes closed between classes, usually between 1pm and 4:30pm. We do have an app you can download into your Android or iPhone that opens to the daily schedule. As of now there are no pricing changes. See you soon!

    I was a student at Northwest Yoga, which sadly, closed in April. I have stopped by your studio several times but found it closed. I am interested in the Vinyasa and Restorative classes. When is the best time to stop by to speak to someone about the studio and classes offered?

      Hello Yazmin! Yoga can help depending on what is causing your pain. Drop in on a class, click the schedule tab for times, and lets see what we can do for your back pain.

      Hello = ) We are friendly towards children though feel that under 12-13 yrs is a bit too soon to bring them to an adult class. If you mean to ask if they can hang around, sure =) We do have parents who bring their young ones to watch iPad movies and play games while they do their yoga. Call if you have questions.
